A South London born Nigerian youth international, Ofoborh seemed to be on the fast track to an impressive professional career in 2021 when he was involved in Premier League matchday squads with Bounemouth before his 20th birthday and then moved north of the border to Rangers, but his fledgling career was derailed when a heart issue was discovered by the Gers medical team. He would not play another game of football for almost three years, departing Ibrox in August 2023 without making a matchday squad.

That could easily have been Ofoborh’s football career done, but in late March 2024, he signed for Swindon, joining another recent heart patient in Harry McKirdy. 1,113 days after his previous professional appearance, he made his Swindon debut as an 85th minute substitute against Notts County. Offering physicality in midfield that had been missing for some time, hopes were high for Ofoborh, although there was an understanding that his reintroduction into football would need to be taken slowly, so it was something of a surprise that he started all six of the final games of the season, playing the the 90 minutes in three of them.

Happily, there did not seem to be any health issues with his game time, and Ofoborh impressed in balancing Town’s midfield: an unusually broad specimen for a footballer, Ofoborh is more than capable of mixing it physically but also has good technical ability, his pedigree being of someone capable of playing well above League Two. Club and fans were both delighted when he signed a contract extension for the 2024/5 season.
