Hay took the First Division by storm when he joined Swindon, scoring 13 goals in his first 17 games for the club. He lost his form after injury and suspension, and lost his first team place.
As Swindon's financial troubles increased, and players were sold, Hay got another chance in the first team, and he started to score goals again. With his contract up for renewal at the end of the season, Swindon chose to sell him on transfer deadline day, for a mere £75,000 to Huddersfield.
