The son of Adam, Town’s unusually high profile fitness consultant, defender Hart was an unused substitute as a surprisingly weak Town side exited the League Cup at the first attempt to Walsall in early August 2022, and then made his debut from the bench in the Papa John’s Trophy game against Crystal Palace later in the month. As a first-year scholar, he had plenty of time to continue his development, but looked like a physically imposing defender from a young age.

The second year of his scholarship saw him strike up a strong defensive partnership with Harley Hunt in Town’s successful U18 side that reached the FA Youth Cup quarter finals. It also included a league debut, although one to forget: introduced at 4-1 up in the 91st minute against Accrington, it should have been a gentle introduction, but it went quickly wrong as Town conceded in the 96th and 99th minutes, before being very lucky not to concede an equaliser with the last kicks of the game. Whilst he continued to be part of the first team squad, he did not step on the pitch for the first team again, and towards the end of the season was loaned out to Canvey Island to get more first team experience.

He was offered and signed a professional contract at the end of the season.
