Signed from Sheffield United for around £20,000 in July 1977, after they had paid £100,000 for his services just two years previously.
A former English schoolboy international, Guthrie's stay at Swindon was a short one - although he scored fourteen goals for the Town in 1977/1978, the arrival of Bobby Smith as manager saw him left out in the cold.
Just fourteen months after he had signed, he moved on to Fulham.
