After turning down a new contract at Exeter, Archibald-Henville instead opted to sign for Swindon, becoming boss Paolo di Canio’s seventh signing of a busy summer period after promotion to League One, with a fee due to be set by tribunal.

Unfortunately, it proved to be a frustrating campaign for the central defender - after making his debut in the opening game of the season - a 3-0 win over Championship side Brighton in the Carling Cup - Archibald-Henville picked up what was initially described as a “minor knock” after the opening League game at Hartlepool, a knee injury keeping him out of the side for almost a month - after a spell on the bench, he returned for the Second Round Carling Cup tie against Burnley, during which he scored his first Town goal in a 3-1 win. Just prior to the game, the Professional Football Compensation Committee decided that Archibald-Henville would cost Swindon an initial £200,000 - a fee which, combined with the £140,000 for striker James Collins, unexpectedly took the Town over their stated budget for the season, putting them under a transfer embargo and setting off a chain of events that would eventually see di Canio leave the club.

As it was, Archibald-Henville went on to make just a handful of appearances before the season was out - after starting in central defence in defeats against Colchester and at Crewe, he was picked to play in a central midfield role at Stevenage, only to withdraw from the side just minutes before kick-off, having vomited on the pitch on numerous occasions during the warm-up. When he did play in his new role the following week, Archibald-Henville gave a rusty performance in an embarrassing 2-0 home defeat to non-league Macclesfield, and was dropped to the bench for the next game against Sheffield United - the three minute cameo at the end of the game proving to be his last action of the season, as he succumbed to his knee injury again, eventually deciding to undergo surgery in Italy - his rehabilitation continuing right into the following pre-season.
