Left footed midfielder Uwakwe arrived at Swindon with a lot of pedigree behind him after 15 years in the age groups at Chelsea, a hat-trick on his loan debut at Accrington and youth caps for England at U19 and U20 level. After leaving Chelsea, he joined another side famous for youth development in Crewe Alexandra, playing 44 times over 18 months at Gresty Road before rejecting a new contract in June 2023 and leaving the club.

Signing for Swindon a month later, Uwakwe started the season as one of Town’s left wing back options alongside Brooklyn Genesini and Benn Ward: arguably none of the three would have said it was their first choice position, and it often showed in terms of both defensive positioning and attacking threat. Of the three, Uwakwe had the longest run in the side, although Flynn never seemed quite convinced of his ability, substituting him in seven of his ten appearances. In late October, Uwakwe suffered a knee injury which would eventually prevent him from making any further appearances that season, although it was initially reported as being a 2-4 month injury. He was reported as being back in first team training towards the end of the season, but did not make a matchday squad. He remains under contract for the 2024/5 season, and it will remain to see if he can make an impact on Town either down the left or as a central midfielder.
