Goalkeeper who made his debut for Swindon on Christmas Eve 1949, having arrived from Arsenal a month previously.

An obvious talent, it didn't take him long to get noticed by the bigger clubs - and hard-up Swindon eventually cashed in - accepting an offer of £9,000 from Portsmouth in November 1952. He went on to play for his country - winning eighteen caps for Northern Ireland.
