Youth team defender Romanski became the first player born after the year 2000 to appear for Town when he was handed a start against Grimsby at the County Ground at the tail end of the 2017/18 season. Manager Phil Brown said of the young defender: “he's a defender first but he can also play. You are always attracted to that left-footer and Joe can go down that left-side, but as a centre-half he gives us good options.”

It was as a left back that he made his first appearance of the 2018/19 season, against a Chelsea U21 side featuring Tariq Lamptey and Billy Gilmour. Town suffered a 4-0 defeat, but Romanski did enough to remain around the first team squad, even scoring on his first league appearance of the season - Town’s winner against Tranmere. That goal could perhaps be seen as fortuitous as Romanski miscontrolled in the Rovers box and the ball went in off both of his shins, but when he describes his only Town goal to his grandchildren in years to come it wouldn’t hurt to embellish a little.

After the departure of Phil Brown and the arrival of Richie Wellens, Romaski was loaned out to Bath City to gain first team experience, but showed enough to be offered a new contract at the end of the season. He failed to make the next step in his career though, and only made the bench once the next season - in the away game at Newport County - as well as spending time on loan at a lower level with Melksham Town. At the end of the season, he was released by Swindon and later moved to play in Poland - the land of his father’s birth.
