After Danny Wilson's resignation in March 2011, chairman Andrew Fitton immediately turned to Hart to take the County Ground hotseat - with the Town in trouble at the bottom of League One, Fitton opted for Hart's experience with previous successful relegation battles with Portsmouth and Crystal Palace. Hart joined on an initial contract until the end of the season - and was immediately thrown in at the deep end - his first three matches against Walsall, Plymouth and Dagenham all against sides scrapping at the wrong end of the table.
