Telford born Bennett spent his early days at Wolves and gained an England U18 cap. He joined the Town on loan from Bristol Rovers in January 2019, and made his debut in a victory over Forest Green Rovers at the County Ground. After netting four times in his fifteen matches at Swindon, the attacking midfielder was linked with a permanent move both in the summer and the following January - but his high salary scuppered any deal, with boss Richie Wellens stating that he would have to take a pay cut of up to 80% to enable any transfer.
