Signed on a season-long loan deal from Swansea City in September 2019, it was almost a month before Benda made his Town debut, in an unimpressive 3-0 home defeat to Plymouth in the EFL Trophy. Despite this, he made his League debut, also against Plymouth, the following weekend - and almost immediately endeared himself to the Town faithful with impressive performances, nicknaming him the BFG.
As Swindon marched on to win the League Two title in 2019/20 under manager Richie Wellens, the form of the young keeper was a major factor - and though Wellens attempted to re-sign the keeper for the following season, he remained at Swansea, despite being linked with both Liverpool and Aston Villa over the summer. In total, Benda made 24 league appearances for the Town, including nine clean sheets.
